Postcard, Sauðárkrókur in Skagafjörður

The town offers a diversity of services, shopping, camping, accommodation, swimming, sports, and restaurants. The Minjahúsið Museum and exhibition center on main street hosts old workshops from past ages. Above the town are the sheep allotments (the name of the town being Sauðá (Sheep river) krókur (hook) i.e. Sheepriverhook) and from there wonderful views can be seen of the old town and out on to the fjord. A four kilometer stretch of beach (Borgarsandur) is just east of the town.
