Text on back of card: Goðafoss, the magnificent 12 meter high waterfall in the river Skjálfandafljót in Northeast Iceland. The horseshoe-shaped falls are divided into basically two main parts. Historically, the waterfalls are the site where the district chieftain, Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði, threw away his heathen icons (goðar) in acceptance of Christianity (1000 A.D.).
