Harpa, the concert hall and conference center in Reykjavík opened in 2011. It was designed by the Danish architectural firm Henning Larsen Architects and the Icelandic architectural firm Betteríið Architects. The glass brick structures covering the building were designed by Danish-Icelandic artist, Ólafur Elíasson and are reminiscent of the crystallized basalt columns found in Icelandic nature. Harpa has 4 halls: Eldborg, the main hall with 1800 seats, Norðurljós, Silfurberg and Kaldalón. In addition there are 9 conference rooms, an info center, shops and a café. Harpa is recognized as one of the most eco-friendly conference centers in the world.
