The Icelandic horse was originally brought to Iceland in the 9th and 10th centuries by Norwegian settlers and has been a pure breed for over 1000 years. It played an integral part in Norse mythology and the Icelandic Sagas. The horse has 5 different gaits: walk, trot, canter, pace and the famous tölt.
