Text on back of card: View from Þingvellir National Park. The area is important historically as the site of the original parliament (Almannagjá), the 'Alþingi', in the year 930. Geologically, the area displays abundent evidence of continental drift between the Eurasian and North American plates. This drifting has caused the many fissures and rifts in the valley floor, some water-filled.
